What Is the Rotherham Shopfront Improvement Grant?
To make our town centres and high streets more inviting, vibrant, and enjoyable for residents and visitors, Rotherham Council is offering grants of up to £25,000 for businesses to improve the exteriors and interiors of their town centre shops and commercial premises in:
- Rotherham
- Maltby
- Swinton
- Wath
- Dinnington
The scheme is funded through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) and is not only an opportunity to enhance the character, value, and appeal of your property but also positively impact the collective appearance of our high streets, encourage business growth, and create new employment opportunities.
Who Can Benefit?
Grants are available to support solutions that deliver meaningful benefits and growth for both the business and the surrounding community. This includes, but is not limited to, funding towards capital costs such as internal and external refurbishments, repainting, signage, lighting, fit-outs, and accessibility improvements.
You may be eligible for the grant if you’re a retail or hospitality business looking to:
- Refresh or redecorate your exterior
- Install new shopfront features or signage
- Improve accessibility to your building
- Invest in a fit-out that enhances your business offering
How It Works
The Shop Unit Business Grant (SUBG) funding is available up to a maximum value of £25,000. If the project exceeds £10,000, the applicant will be expected to match fund the remaining balance by 50%.
For example, if the project amounts to £14,000 in total, the SUBG will fund the first £10,000 and would then match 50% of the remaining balance of £4,000. This means the applicant will pay £2,000, and the scheme will fund the remaining £2,000.
